Other Notes
Our program specializes in TESOL, Applied linguistics and Linguistics. We offer MA and PhD degrees, as well as a graduate TESOL certificate, an undergraduate TESOL certificate, and an undergraduate linguistics minor. Most of our graduate students are awarded a position as a Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) or Research Assistant (GRA), and receive a tuition waiver and a monthly stipend. GTAs teach Composition or International Composition, or tutor in the Writing Center. Beginning GTAs participate in a "shadowing" apprenticeship and receive extensive training; advanced students may have the opportunity to teach in the area of their specialization. GRAs assist faculty in research, administration, or editing; some work in the Language Studies Lab, which provides equipment, software, and training for a wide range of research objectives.
