The LSA was pleased to present two of its awards to recipients in person earlier this month, since many of the recipients were unable to attend the official award ceremony held in January due to the pandemic. The first-ever Arnold Zwicky Award was presented by LSA Executive Director Alyson Reed to Kirby Conrod (Swarthmore College) at a special event held on the Swarthmore campus [photo at left]. This was followed a few weeks later by the presentation of the Leonard Bloomfield Book Award to selected co-authors of African American Language, Walt Wolfram (NC State University) and Mary Kohn (KS State University). Unfortunately, the other co-authors, Charlie Farrington (Virginia Tech), Jennifer Renn (Purdue University), and Janneke Van Hofwegen (Google) were not able to attend in person. The award presentation and reception for local members was held at the Archibald A. Hill Suite housing the LSA Secretariat [photo at right].
