The LSA is pleased to announce that the University of California (UC) Davis will serve as the host for the 2019 Linguistic Institute. The premier scholarly event in the field of linguistics, the biennial summer Linguistic Institute has been sponsored by the LSA since its inception in 1928. The Institute attracts prominent faculty, world-renowned guest lecturers and linguistics students from around the world for a multi-week program of advanced courses, free-standing lectures, scholarly workshops, social events, and professional development activities. The Linguistics Department at UC Davis will serve as the lead organizer for the Institute, with faculty members Raul Aranovich and Georgia Zellou serving as co-directors. UC Davis is a research university with a growing linguistics department, which exemplifies the interdisciplinary outlook of the LSA membership. The LSA provides significant in-kind and financial support for the Institute, including a planning grant, endowed professorships and fellowships, along with scores of tuition scholarships awarded on a competitive basis to students attending the event. The most recent Institute was held at the University of Chicago in 2015. The 2017 Institute will be held at the University of Kentucky’s Lexington campus.
