The Department of Linguistics at the University of Utah invites applications for a two-year visiting assistant professor position to begin July 1, 2024, pending budgetary approval. The successful candidate must have completed a Ph.D. in Linguistics or a closely related field by the time of appointment.

This position involves a specialization in Indigenous languages of the Americas with an additional specialization that would build on or intersect with the Department’s existing strengths. The successful candidate will have experience and/or a strong interest in working with Indigenous communities on language documentation, acquisition, and revitalization. The person hired into this position will be expected to conduct and publish research. We especially encourage applications from candidates who are eager and qualified to conduct collaborative research with other members of our faculty, who will contribute actively to the success of the Department’s research and teaching missions and embrace and support the Department’s commitments related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
