The Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies at Georgetown University invites applications for the position of Assistant Teaching Professor of Arabic, starting in August 2017, on a three-year contract, pending satisfactory review after the first year. Ph.D. in hand by Summer 2017 is required. Applicants should be experienced in proficiency-based, communicative methods of teaching Modern Standard Arabic and spoken Arabic at all levels, and are expected to have a solid grounding in classical Arabic language and culture. Preferred areas of specialization: Modern or Classical Arabic and Islamic humanities, including linguistics, literature, and cultural studies. Experience in proficiency testing is a plus.
