Penn State invites applications for an Assistant Professor (tenure-track joint appointment) in the departments of Applied Linguistics and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGSS) to begin Fall 2024.

As the strength of the Department of Applied Linguistics is a collective commitment to the study of language and discourse in diverse sociocultural contexts, and the emphasis in WGSS lies in interdisciplinary feminist inquiry, we are especially interested in candidates who bridge these scholarly orientations.

The Assistant Professor will be expected to teach core interdisciplinary undergraduate and graduate courses in WGSS, along with core undergraduate courses and graduate seminars in Applied Linguistics and ensure that all teaching and mentoring is grounded in inclusive pedagogies.

The Assistant Professor will also play a defining role in the ongoing development of the Applied Linguistics undergraduate major and in teaching and mentoring in the dual-title Ph.D. program with Applied Linguistics and WGSS.
