Semantics and Linguistic Theory (SALT) is the premier North American conference on semantics as a part of linguistic theory. The 31th SALT will be hosted by Brown University on May 7 – 9, 2021 and held online. You can see the program here. Information on the Proceedings and Pop-up Mentoring is forthcoming.

The synchronous component of SALT31 will take place through Zoom and Slack. Links will be sent to registered participants on May 6th. Please register here.

The SALT committee on Equity and Diversity, SALT(ED), will be holding a pre-conference workshop on Thursday, May 6.

For the fifth year in a row, the LSA will handle conference registration, publish the proceedings, and promote SALT as part of its mission to advance the scientific study of language through scholarly communication.

Pop-up Mentoring Program

The Pop-Up Mentoring Program (PUMP) is sponsored by the LSA's Committee on Gender Equity in Linguistics (COGEL, formerly COSWL).  More information about the Pop-Up Mentoring Program at SALT 31 will be available in April 2021. 

Conference Registration

Registration for SALT31 is free. However, if you are able to pay a fee for registration, you can do so here. This will support the costs of running the conference as well as the LSA, SALT's co-sponsor and host of the SALT proceedings.   If you are able to pay an additional amount, please first select one of the options below to indicate the additional amount you wish to pay, then click on your browser's back arrow to return to this page, then click the large red "Register for meeting" button at the top of this page to complete your registration.  

ASL Interpretation

Attendees at SALT 31 who need ASL/English interpretation must notify the organizers and register for the meeting by April 16. 2021. Presenters who plan to present in ASL must also notify the organizers by that date in order to ensure that interpretation is provided. All requests should be sent to the conference organizers, with the words "SALT 31 ASL Interpretation Request" in the subject line. Please include a list of sessions, papers, posters, and any other events you expect to attend.  The SALT 31 Program is available here. Please note that live captioning will be available for all the talks. If you would like to request a captioner for the poster sessions, please contact the conference organizers.
