The Society has executed a formal partnership with organizers of the April 22, 2017 event, to be held on Earth Day in Washington, DC and other locations around the world. We encourage LSA members and linguists everywhere to participate in this important event focused on defending the vital public service role science plays in our communities and our world. The LSA has a number of activities planned in conjunction with the March for Science, including:

  • A slogan contest for signs and banners to be displayed at any March location. Winners of the contest will receive free registration to the next LSA Annual Meeting.
  • A gathering place in Washington, DC for linguists who wish to march as a group. The LSA will provide a banner for this purpose.
  • A central clearinghouse of linguists wishing to connect with other LSA members marching in specific cities. Visit our facebook connection page to learn more.
  • Online resource tools for marchers on policy issues affecting linguists and language science more broadly.

More details on all of the above activities will be posted to this page (and other LSA communications channels) as they become available.
