The COVID-19 pandemic has upended our normal way of life, and we at the LSA are acutely aware that many of our members will be facing unprecedented challenges during the coming months and years.  If you are able to, we encourage you to support fellow LSA members who are unable to fund the full cost of their own memberships.   You can do this in one of three easy ways:

  • To donate in support of any member who requests assistance with dues payment, make a contribution in any amount you choose to the LSA’s Financial Assistance and Student Support Fund.  All donations to this fund from now through December 31 will be earmarked to offset dues reductions or waivers for our members financially impacted by COVID-19.
  • If you’d like to pay for the membership dues of a specific LSA member, you can make a donation in the appropriate amount (see membership dues here) to the Financial Assistance and Student Support Fund and select the “Make this an honorary donation” option.  You must enter the email address of the person you are donating a membership to if you’d like them to be notified.
  • If you’d like to pay for the membership dues of more than one LSA member, please complete this form (.pdf), indicating the name, email address and membership dues (see list of dues here) for each individual you’re supporting, and indicating a payment method.  You can fax it to us at 202-835-1717, mail it to the Secretariat (see address below) or email it as a .pdf attachment to [email protected].    We especially encourage donations to support student memberships at this time;  any donation for more than five student memberships will be eligible for our Bulk Student Membership Discount of $10 per student membership.

Under the CARES Act, the federal government's coronavirus relief package, charitable contributions up to $300 (or $600 for those married filing jointly) are tax deductible even for individuals who do not itemize their deductions. This means that you can lower your income tax by making a gift to the LSA even if you take the standard deduction.

We do hope you’ll consider a donation if you’re able to.
