Call for Session Chairs at 2022 LSA Annual Meeting
The LSA Program Committee is seeking session chairs for the 2022 Annual Meeting, which will be held virtually and in-person at the Washington Hilton in Washington, D.C. from January 6-9.
Please note that the LSA Annual Meeting will be a hybrid one this year, which means that we will have some paper presentations made virtually, and some will be made in-person at the conference. More information on the session modalities can be found here. When examining the schedule to see if there is a session you would prefer to chair, please note which modality the session is listed as (hybrid or in-person) and whether or not you will be comfortable with chairing in that assigned modality format, before volunteering to chair the session in question. More instructions and information will be provided about how to chair the two different presentation settings as we get closer to the Meeting.
Session chairs introduce speakers, moderate any discussion during the question-and-answer period, and remind speakers when the time allotted for their 20-minute talk is drawing to a close. Session chairs should hold the Ph.D. and be current LSA members – and, of course, should plan on attending the Annual Meeting. More information about the Annual Meeting, including instructions for meeting registration (through December 15th) and hotel reservations (through December 6th) is available here. To access the meeting schedule and a list of the papers being presented in each session, click here.
To volunteer to chair a session, click here. To maximize the volunteer opportunities, we ask that you sign up to chair no more than one session. The Program Committee will review the volunteer sign-ups for potential schedule conflicts and confirm your session chair assignment at least one month in advance of the Meeting. Volunteers will be provided with a packet containing basic instructions, “time cards” to let speakers know how much time they have left, and instructions for presenters in the event that the session will have deaf attendees.
Having chairs on hand for every session is critical to the smooth running of the LSA meeting. Please do not volunteer to chair a session unless or until you are certain you will be attending the meeting. Please email [email protected] with any questions.
