Book Review Editor for Language

Nominations, including self-nominations, are sought for the position of Book Review (BR) Editor for Language. The BR Editor is responsible for determining which books are to be reviewed, and for selecting the reviewers. Once a book review is submitted, the BR Editor determines if the review should be accepted for the journal. The number of reviews accepted for a given issue should be about the same as it has been in recent years, about fifteen per issue. Since Language is moving in the direction of a digital format, the BR Editor is most welcome to actively formulate initiatives taking advantage of this format that will enrich or possibly even change the review offerings of the journal.
The BR Editor works with and under the direction of the Editor of Language, and with the journal’s copy editors and proofreaders. The term of appointment, which requires approval by the LSA Executive Committee, is for three years beginning January 2014, possibly renewable. The BR Editor receives an annual stipend and LSA support, but is also encouraged to seek further institutional support.
Nominations may be sent to via e-mail to the Editor of Language (subject line: Book Review Editor Nomination). Informal inquiries are also welcome at the same address.
